Getting started
3 questions
What is LiveMap?
LiveMap is a social map app for car people. Find meets and drives near you, roll out together in convoys, join communities for your car and your city, and see friends on the map when they choose to share.
Is LiveMap free to use?
Yes. LiveMap is free to download and use. Blaze and Overdrive are optional paid plans with extra features, and Octane is an optional in-app currency. The app shows the price before you pay for anything.
Is LiveMap available on iOS and Android?
Yes. Get LiveMap from the App Store on iPhone or from Google Play on Android. This website opens links people share from the app, handles some checkouts you start in the app, and hosts help and our policies. There’s no web version of the app. Apart from the LiveMap V2 campaign dashboard and the business dashboard, you can’t sign in on the web.
Location & privacy
5 questions
How does location sharing work?
Sharing your location with friends is off until you turn it on. When it’s on, people you follow who also follow you back can see you on the map. In a convoy, the other members see your position for that drive, whatever your sharing setting. You can turn sharing off or leave a convoy at any time.
Can I control who sees my location?
Yes. Friend sharing is off by default, and when you turn it on only mutual follows can see you. Convoy members see your position and speed during the convoy, and its recap afterwards. You can also make your profile private, block people, and turn off location access for LiveMap in your phone’s settings.
How is my location data used?
LiveMap uses your location for the map, nearby meets and convoys, sharing with friends when it’s on, navigation, and drives you choose to record. Your last-known location for friends expires after 24 hours. Drives you record, convoy routes and convoy recaps are saved to your account, and places you add to posts or events stay until that content is deleted. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How is my data protected?
Connections to LiveMap are encrypted, stored chat messages are encrypted, and passwords are never stored in readable form. You can also turn on two-step verification in Settings → Account & Security. Chats aren’t end-to-end encrypted, so LiveMap’s systems can access them when needed to deliver messages, keep people safe or follow the law.
Are chat messages private?
Messages are encrypted when sent and when stored, but chats aren’t end-to-end encrypted. Authorized systems may access them when needed to deliver the service, investigate abuse, protect users or comply with the law.
Communities & events
3 questions
How do communities work?
Communities bring car people together by location, car type or interest. Join one to get into its threads, events and group chats, or create your own to build a local car scene.
How can I find or create events?
Browse meets, drives and shows on the map or in Events, and RSVP in a tap. You can create one event a month at no cost, and Overdrive members can create as many as they like.
What is the Garage?
The Garage lets you add your vehicles with photos, specs, and details, show them to the community, and pick your primary vehicle.
Convoys & driving
4 questions
What are convoys and how do they work?
Convoys are group drives where members see each other’s live position on the map. Start a convoy, invite friends, set a destination and drive there together. Convoys you start on the free plan can have up to 10 members; Blaze and Overdrive remove the limit.
Can I use LiveMap while driving?
Don’t use LiveMap while you’re driving. Set your route before you set off, pull over somewhere safe to use the app, or let a passenger handle it.
Does LiveMap drain my battery?
LiveMap uses location in the background only during an active convoy, navigation or a drive you’re recording, and that’s when it uses the most battery. Ending the drive or leaving the convoy stops it. You can also limit LiveMap’s location access in your phone’s settings.
Does LiveMap work offline?
LiveMap needs an internet connection for live location sharing, convoys, messages, communities, events and account updates. Your phone may keep parts of the map you’ve already loaded for a while, but LiveMap doesn’t offer a full offline mode.
Account
4 questions
How can I sign up?
Sign up with Apple, Google or your email address. If you use email, we send you a one-time code to confirm the address is yours.
Why does it say my email already exists?
If you first signed in with Apple or Google, your account is tied to that sign-in method. Use the same one to get back into your account.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account and enter the code we email you. Your account is deactivated right away, and signing back in within 30 days cancels the request. After that, the account becomes eligible for scheduled purge: your account record is anonymized and most of your content is removed, while some records are kept. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Full details, including how to ask us by email.
How do I get help or report issues?
Email support@livemap.co for help with the app or your account, bug reports or ideas. For payments, write to billing@livemap.co, and for privacy requests, privacy@livemap.co. Every way to reach us is on the contact page.
Plans & Octane
5 questions
What do Blaze and Overdrive include?
Blaze and Overdrive are LiveMap’s optional paid plans, billed monthly or yearly. Blaze gives you convoys with no member limit, chat attachments up to 500 MB (10 MB on the free plan), a custom profile color and map icon, an animated profile photo and banner, 3 event boosts and 2 community boosts every billing period, and a 10% leaderboard score boost. Overdrive includes everything in Blaze, plus a small ranking boost for your posts, events and communities, unlimited events, a free prize-wheel spin every week, and payouts for things you sell released after 3 days instead of 7. Both offer a 7-day free trial, and the app shows the price before you subscribe.
How do I cancel Blaze or Overdrive?
If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel in your Apple or Google subscription settings. If you subscribed on livemap.co, open Settings in the LiveMap app, tap your plan at the top, and manage or cancel it there. You keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting your LiveMap account doesn’t cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
What is Octane?
Octane is LiveMap’s in-app currency. Spend it on 30-day boosts for a community or an event, Blaze Week or Blaze Month for you or a friend, prize-wheel spins, streak freezes and repairs, and cosmetic items. Buy packs of 500 to 13,500 Octane in the app, where bigger packs include bonus Octane, or earn it from streaks, quests, weekly events and inviting friends. Overdrive members also get one free spin every week. Octane has no cash value and can’t be cashed out or transferred.
Can I buy Octane on the web?
Yes, if you use LiveMap on an iPhone with a US App Store account. Open the Octane shop in the app and tap “Buy on the web shop”. You pay on livemap.co and get a 5% bonus on the Octane you pay for, so the $20 pack gives you 2,350 Octane instead of 2,250. Web top-ups aren’t offered in the Android app, and they can’t be started from this website.
Can I get a refund on Octane?
For purchases made on livemap.co, email billing@livemap.co and we’ll review your request. Apple and Google handle refunds for purchases made through them, under their own policies. If a purchase is refunded or reversed, the Octane from it is taken back; if you’ve already spent it, your balance can go below zero until new Octane covers it.
